Briefly tell us how you and your fiancé met! How did you know that he was the one?
We met at work and that same night we bumped into each other at a coffee shop which is where our work was having an event! We had so much in common and I loved his sense of humor. He is the most gracious and loving person I’ve ever met and I knew instantly that he was the one!
Tell us your proposal story!
We took a trip to Encinitas to visit one of our favorite beaches. Near the beach is a Yellow Volkswagen Camper Bus in front of a pink home that I love taking photos of each time we are in the area. I love Volkswagen Buses, any time I spot one I snap a photo! Daniel stood in front of the bus for a photo and as I was taking his photo he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. My friends were behind the bushes the entire time and caught the entire proposal on video and took our photos! He had a picnic basket and bouquet of flowers ready to go for us to celebrate on the beach right after.
How did you both decide on your wedding day look?
We both decided on having a wedding with lots of color. Daniel chose a blue suit that went well with the terracotta color scheme!
Do you have any shopping advice for future brides?
Research different styles of dresses and have an open mind. I had my mind set on a specific dress style and went into David’s Bridal not wanting to try anything else. I realized that specific style wasn’t what I expected. The David’s Bridal Associate recommended a different style and I fell in love with it!
What was your favorite detail about your look?
I love the off the shoulder sleeves and the hidden skirt slit. It made it so easy to walk in for the entire night.
How did you feel when you knew that you #foundtheone?
I felt so confident in my own skin! I was overcome with joy and excitement and just knew the dress was the one.
Tell us about your wedding day!
When I look back on our wedding day, I am reminded of all the beauty and goodness that took place. The day started off with some light rain in the morning but cleared up hours before our ceremony began. Daniel and I prayed before walking down the aisle together and at that moment there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky. Our closest friends and family were in attendance and watched as we exchanged rings, vows and our first kiss as a married couple. I loved every part of our wedding and am so thankful for all the people who loved, supported and helped us on our special day.
Was there a highlight or most memorable moment of the day?
We had a moment before walking down the aisle where we prayed together. As we held hands we were both overcome with emotion and excited to start our lives together. To share that moment before walking down the aisle is something I will always remember.
Did anything funny or unexpected happen?
I dropped Daniel’s wedding ring right as we were exchanging wedding rings. I was extremely nervous!
Is there something you wish you had known before the big day/while you were planning the wedding?
Hire a wedding planner! They will keep your wedding on track and will ease your stress the day of your wedding.
Did you have to make any changes to your wedding plans because of Covid?
Yes – our wedding plans, vendors, and guest list had to shift due to COVID-19. We also decided to hire small businesses from our local community in order to support them during that time. It wasn’t easy to plan a wedding during the pandemic, but I am so thankful for Daniel for continually finding ways to make it such a beautiful day.
Did you have a first dance song?
Daniel and I danced to “Your Song” by Elton John.
What flavor was your wedding cake?
We had a dessert table along with our wedding cake. The cake flavor was strawberry. Daniel and I forgot to have a slice of our wedding cake! We snagged a few Vanilla Conchas (A Mexican Sweet Bread) filled with Nutella to enjoy on our honeymoon together.
What was your theme?
I chose a boho style theme. I wanted a mix of natural and rustic details in our wedding.
What was your favorite DIY or personal touch?
My father created the three arches we had at our wedding reception. He helped my dream become a reality! We worked on them together a couple of months before the wedding. I loved being able to help him cut, paint, and assemble the arches together. It is something I will remember and cherish for years to come.
What did you do to stay stress free on your wedding day?
I continually reminded myself throughout the day: Be present and enjoy every moment.
What’s your best wedding planning advice? And what advice do you have for brides that are planning their weddings right now?
Make your wedding your own! There will be people sharing opinions and expectations on wedding traditions from family and friends. Remember it is your special day! Do what makes you and your future spouse happy.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Know if your wedding date falls on a holiday or on the same day as an event. Our date was two days before Valentine’s Day and several florists were unable to commit to a wedding. The florists shared they we’re preparing for arrangements/deliveries several days before then.
